Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts is the nation’s leading organization dedicated to helping all girls fulfill their potential and gain valuable skills to ensure their future success. Girl Scouts offers girls in grades K-12 six levels to discover premier personal growth and leadership development experience. In a friendly, accepting, and nurturing environment, and in partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop strong values, leadership skills, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. Girl Scouts has grown to be part of a worldwide family of 10 million girls and adults in 145 counties. Our regional website is: http://www.girlscoutspinestogulf.org/.
Girl Scout Troop 1207 is the troop at St. Marks. It is a relatively new troop started in 2007. It encompasses Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. The levels of Girl Scouts are as follows: Daisies – K5/1st; Brownies – 2nd/3rd; Juniors – 4th/5th. The troop is overseen by Mrs. Jennifer Beruvides. Each level is directed by two parents who share duties. The troop meets two Wednesdays per month. They open and close their meetings together but work separately on activities within their level during the middle of the meeting.

Boy Scouts
St. Mark’s Cathedral School is the sponsor-organization for Cub Scout Pack Six, registered with the Norwela Council of the Boy Scouts of America. All boys in first through fifth grades as members of the school or related to a member of the Cathedral are eligible to become members.
In Pack Six, each Cub Scout is not only a member of the Pack-at-Large, but also belongs to an individual smaller unit; that is, a “den.” The den is a grade-specific group which meets together for pack events as well as individual activities. The Den Leaders provide activities for their respective members to complete in order to achieve a rank each year. For example, first graders work on the rank of Tiger, second graders work toward completing Wolf, third graders complete Bear, fourth graders achieve Webelos I and, finally, fifth graders complete Webelos II before moving on to Boy Scouts the following year.
Being a Cub Scout with Pack Six equates with “going and doing.” Our Pack, in particular, takes pride in making sure that our Cub Scouts do not sit idlly and spend too much time in the classroom. Instead, we plan Pack outings and our Den Leaders encourage individual field trips, outdoor activities, and attending local events.
Our Pack usually meets five to six times each year in the Parish Hall, with individual Den meetings one to two times per month. In addition, we try and attend two Norwela Council-sponsored camping events in the fall and spring, with a Pack campout during a temperate times of each.
The leaders of Pack Six believe that each activity or event in Cub Scouting should have a purpose. Besides fun, adventure, and excitement, our aim is to help boys grow as leaders and citizens by helping shape character and integrity. In planning our events and activities, we aim to impart the Twelve Core Values of Cub Scouting as articulated by the Boy Scouts of America Organization.
We would invite anyone interested in joining our Pack to contact the school for current leadership contact information. We welcome all of those who support the work of Scouts and the future of Cub Scouting at St. Mark’s Cathedral School.
