Lower School Peace Council
PeaceBuilders establishes a foundation for young children to learn responsibility, right relationships, and respect through practicing the PeaceBuilders’ Principles. He are St. Mark’s, we do this through a particularly Christian lens: “Blessed are the peacemakers.” Matthew 5:9.
We use story, song, and Bible verse to learn how to become peacemakers “at home, at school, and in our community each day.” PeacePartners, Inc. In 2011, the lower school launched a St. Mark’s Cathedral School Peace Council. Each 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade homeroom sends two representatives to serve on the Council and bring back the theme, message of the month, or peace-building activity to their homeroom and also to designated kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classes to which they have been assigned. The Peace Council meets on the first Tuesday of the month.
